Sequences

A sequence is a grouping of poems that have a prescribed order of reading. The order is important in that each poem should stand alone, but earlier poems in the sequence should enhance the experience when reading later poems in the sequence. Later poems in the sequence should offer further understanding of poems earlier in the sequence. The set of poems “In the Workshop of Joseph” is designed as a short sequential work, with a time flow.

It is also based on classical works of art, loosely based around Michaelangelo’s work. It mixes crafts of painting, sculpture and wood turning. It would be difficult to combine these three artisan crafts into one poem of this nature, so a sequence gives a good working framework.
